Te Hokinga Mahara o Waipureku Waitangi.
Join us to commemorate the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi at Te Awa o Mokotūāraro (Clive), Hawke's Bay! This historic event, close to where Te Tiriti was signed in 1840, promises a day of reflection and connection. Turn up anytime in the morning at Farndon Park to join in this free commemoration. All welcome.
Starting at 7:45 am at Atea a Rangi, Waitangi Park, with karakia, followed by a 3 km Hikoi of Unity to Farndon Park. Bring your flags.
Haka pōwhiri at 9:00 am, led by mana whenua, followed by kōrero from a keynote speaker and local leaders. Waka, small boats and fluttering flags will provide the backdrop to this popular riverside event.
Morning tea provided, then a panel of locals discussing the Treaty and what it means to them.
The event will conclude by 12 noon.
