Event Details
In the lead-up to International Women’s Day, join award-winning artist Leslie Falls for a special hands-on embroidery workshop honouring a woman who inspires you.
Guided by Leslie, you’ll create an expressive mini stitched portrait of a woman who matters to you - someone you love, admire, or feel connected to. She might be a personal hero, a historical figure, or a cultural icon who has shaped the way you see the world.
This workshop moves beyond traditional embroidery. Leslie’s distinctive stitching technique is inspired by her love of line drawing, using layers of fine, individual stitches to build depth, movement, and personality. Simple stitched outlines sit alongside richly textured areas, allowing each portrait to feel alive and completely one-of-a-kind. As you stitch, your own style will naturally emerge, making the process as meaningful as the finished portrait.
All materials are provided, though you’re invited to bring a special piece of vintage linen if you’d like to add personal significance. Just bring a photo or drawing of your chosen woman - and your curiosity.
Leslie will share her techniques throughout the session, supporting you to create a considered, lasting piece that recognises and celebrates the woman you’ve chosen.
Kindly supported by the Marion Holt Trust.
