Grand-tastic Monday is a joyful celebration of family, whānau, aiga, ohana, parivaar, jiātíng, familia, clann designed for grandparents and grandies to come together at Toitoi and get creative.

Old School and At School – Special Assembly Concert Club, 11am, $10 per person, Assembly Ballroom
Once a month on a Monday, we host Assembly Concert Club in the historic Assembly Ballroom. For this special one-off event, we’re putting the spotlight on kids! The Enchanted Stage Walk – Opera House Tour, 10am – 2pm every hour, on the hour
The Toitoi Opera House holds more than history…it holds magic. On The Enchanted Stage Walk, grandparents and grandkids are invited to step inside this iconic building and discover a world where stories glow, corridors hum with secrets, and every carved detail whispers of adventures past.
Together with a Toitoi tour guide, you’ll step on to the stage, peek behind the curtains and explore the nooks and crannies where performers have dreamt, danced and prepared for generations.
This is a heart warming journey through the Opera House’s history sharing the most magical stories and the joy of exploring one of Aotearoa’s most beloved theatres together.
Memory Lane, 10am – 2pm, Tama Tūranga Huata Room
Step into Memory Lane, a cosy, creative space at Toitoi where grandparents and grandkids come together to celebrate stories, imagination, and shared moments.
At the heart of the room sits our ‘Conversation Tables’ set with prompt cards, crayons, storyboard templates, and plenty of room to chat, create, and connect.
Grandparents are invited to tell a story about… a favourite childhood adventure, a family tradition, a moment they’ll never forget, or something wonderfully ordinary that deserves to be remembered.
Meanwhile, Grandies get to bring those memories to life, using crayons, drawings, and their very own storyboard to capture the tale in pictures, panels, and playful creativity.
