Event Details
Rosalind holds a BA and MA from Goldsmith’s College and an additional MA from Birkbeck College. Rosalind presents talks at the Tate, independent art societies and on cruises. Rosalind is an experienced guide, and her tours include Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Greenwich and the Royal Academy.
Rosalind’s talk explores how portraits can give us an insight into the changing styles of dress over the centuries. With a particular focus on fashion in England, Rosalind will talk about some of the more ridiculous styles from 16th to 19th century. Sumptuary Laws that prescribed a dress code for people of different social standing demonstrated how little personal choice was available to people. The freedoms and restrictions of fashion over the centuries will provide for a fun and informative evening.
