Through the Eyes of a Child...

“Photography is the art of observation. It has little to do with things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” Elliott Erwitt.

It all started in term two 2019 when a little boy asked to use a teacher’s camera and we said sure and off he went. What followed was the beginning of an amazing journey which has continued ever since. We made sure the children soon had access to their own adult camera, not a toy but a pretty ‘grown-up’ one, a Lumix, and could use it whenever they chose. At the end of each week all the photographs were uploaded on to a digital photo frame to be viewed on slide show continuously the following week.

Each week we are privileged in seeing the world of Marewa Kindergarten through the eyes of the children, what that they value, what they enjoy and what is important to them. It’s a rare insight into a world that isn’t’ how we as adults see it, and so, “Through the eyes of a child” a photographic exhibition was born. But not only have the children taken the photos they have also given the titles to the ones that are in the exhibition.  It’s just an incredible collection of vision and thoughts, teamwork and collaboration from children not yet at school.

Take a look around...
