The theme for the 2025 Unity Day Ngā kōrero pūrākau ka puawai te kotahitanga. Sharing stories of Unity for a Kinder and Fairer Napier.
The day will be opened by a Mana Whenua leader, followed by a welcome by the Toi Matarua's Moko Boys who will run the show. (https://www.toimatarua.com/).
We delighted to have Dr Jess Berentson-Shaw Director of Narrative Research and Strategy The Workshop (https://www.theworkshop.org.nz/) delivering the 2025 John Robson Memorial Lecture. Jess will focus on improving lives by changing how we talk about complex issues such as Te Tiriti
Dr Sally Rye, Kairangahau Matua (Research Lead at EIT), will follow Jess sharing Pūrākau me Kotahitanga Personal Reflections Then Denis O'Rielly will share his views on intentional community building.
The Napier Pilot City Unity Awards will be presented by Her Worship, Mayor of Napier, Kirsten Wise. The awards honour individuals and groups who have made extraordinary contributions to their community.
Following the Pat Magill lunch we will have progress reports from Tangata Tiriti Aotearoa and Moving Forward 2025.

This will be followed by presentations from five local initiatives that are creating community wellness and unity:

Following this everyone will have the opportunity to mix and talk with representative of these organisations
