Mother's Day Concert

56 Tait Drive, Greenmeadows, Napier

Come and celebrate Mother’s Day with the Napier Technical Memorial Band and the Junior Band at our next concert on Sunday 12th May at the Salvation Army Citadel, Greenmeadows, starting at 2.30pm. Tickets just $15 on the door and Eftpos will be available.
We have music to suit all tastes, from the infectious rhythms of the bongo drums in Apache, to the instantly recognisable tunes from the 3 Minute Nutcracker and the toe tapping beat of Go Daddy-O performed by both bands. A highlight will be the concert medley of The Blues Brothers featuring Everybody Needs Somebody To Love and Soul Man. You’ll also be entertained by our clarinetist Angus who will perform Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’.
The Junior Band, conducted by Teresa Cuthbert, has welcomed a number of new musicians recently, filling out the brass section. Their items will include ‘Tijuana Kitchen’ which requires some audience participation and ‘Trash Cancerto’, featuring the solo instrument - the trash can!
The concert will be conducted by Musical Director, Christopher Wilson, who promises something for everyone. So gather a group of friends, and their mothers, and enjoy a splendid musical afternoon out.
Both bands have many more performances scheduled for the year, including playing in the HB Festival of Bands in June and joining forces with the HB Community Orchestra, the Deco Bay Brass and the Napier Pipe Band later in the year.
We are always keen to welcome new players to both the Napier Tech Band and the Junior Band. If you are interested in joining us, email tcuthbert@napiercentral.school.nz or go to our website https://www.napiertechband.org/ to see some of our recent concerts and to find out more about both bands.
