Situated behind the Opouahi Kiwi Crèche's 3.3km predator proof fence, a safe space for kiwi chicks to grow. The loop track surrounds an idyllic lake with native bush.
Enjoy a picnic, admire the carvings of the whare waka (canoe shelter), stroll around the lake or enjoy some fishing, swimming or kayaking. There is an abundance of birdlife to enjoy on this 1.4km loop, and if you are looking for something a little more strenuous the Thomas Bush Track starts from a junction halfway around the walking track. Dogs are not permitted.
