The Public Trust Office Building

100 Tennyson Street, Napier, Hawkes Bay

The former Public Trust Office on the corner of Tennyson Street and Dalton Streets was completed in 1922, and was said to have been reinforced by railway line steel.

It substantially survived the 1931 earthquake, but was damaged and needed some major reconditioning and strengthening over five months.

The style of the building is classical revival.  When the present owners wanted to repaint the building, they with Resene Paints, Napier and myself developed a new colour scheme. While keeping with the relatively same theme, the colour tints accent the building more – particularly highlighting the circular shapes at the parapet level.
