Manioro Rainbow+ Education - Shaping Empowered & Elevated Futures.
This session is designed to deepen understanding, strengthen cultural competency, and support more inclusive and effective engagement with Rainbow+ communities through a Māori and Pasifika lens. Participants will gain real-world insight into the lived experiences of Takatāpui parents and whānau through Tūrama — a powerful body of storytelling that highlights the challenges, resilience, and defining moments that shape their journeys. These insights support more confident, informed, and compassionate conversations within whānau, workplaces and communities.
The session also highlights our Meaalofa Pacific Rainbow+ Competency Training that is delivered nationwide by Nevertheless Trust in partnership with Le Va. Through hearing from trailblazing Pacific Rainbow+ leaders, participants will be equipped with practical understanding to strengthen the vā — the relational space — and engage respectfully and meaningfully with Pacific Rainbow+ peoples.
In line with our theme - the focus of all speakers in this session is 2050: What does the future look like for our Rainbow+ communities? With a future-focused lens, participants will be challenged to think beyond current systems and consider their role in shaping more inclusive environments for the years ahead.
Through this session, participants will gain:
- Deeper understanding of Rainbow+ communities through a Māori and Pasifika lens, including insights from Takatāpui parents and whānau
- Increased confidence to engage in respectful, informed, and courageous conversations within the workplace
- Practical tools to strengthen the vā and build more meaningful, culturally grounded relationships
- Enhanced cultural competency to support inclusive practices, policies, and environments
- Future-focused thinking to move beyond awareness and contribute to more responsive and inclusive systems
- Greater clarity on their role in creating safe, affirming, and empowering spaces for others
