The Wellington Maori Choir, Hiere O Te Kokako, is a regional group that performs traditional waiata, hymns, and traditional songs such as the Māori Battalion Marching Song, and frequently collaborates with local groups like the Wellington Community Choir.

The choir has a reputation for fine singing, and is conducted by the Reverend David Dell, a minister in the Presbyterian Church, prolific composer of church music, and Chaplain for the NZ Police.

Father John Matthews, the vicar at St. Lukes, established a relationship with this choir when he became honorary Chaplain to the Wellington Welsh community in 2021 and discovered that the Wellington Maori Choir, as Tangata Whenua, honour the Welsh community as Tangata Whenua in their own land.

There is no entry fee for the concert; any amount you wish to offer in a retiring Koha will be gratefully received. All are welcome.
