SESSION Abstract: Fuel Your Body, Read the Signs
Your car gives warning signs before it breaks down, and your body does too. Routine blood tests and health checks measure some of those signs, but the numbers can be hard to make sense of. This talk explains why your body runs on two fuel systems, why many of us rely mostly on one, and what cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure measurements reflect about metabolic health. You will leave with a clearer understanding of these markers and better questions to bring to your next conversation with your doctor or nurse. To finish up we will discuss some of the lifestyle behaviours that you can begin implementing to help turn your dashboard lights green.
This is a general education session. It does not provide personal medical advice or individual interpretation of test results.
Key Takeaways:
Understand how your body uses different fuel sources and why metabolic flexibility matters for long-term health.
Learn what cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure measurements mean in layman’s terms, and which questions are worth asking your health professional about your own results.
Learn about some of the lifestyle choices we can make to support better metabolic health.
Date: Wednesday 25th November
