Previously known as the 'Bay Skate Skateboard Competition' - The Bay Skate Shakedown is returning to Hawkes Bay this November!
For the last three years, we’ve combined our infamous bowl competition with our street competition to form an epic two day skateboarding event you won’t want to miss! The 2026 Bay Skate Shakedown is scheduled for Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 November. This event promises to bring together the top street and bowl athletes from across Aotearoa.
For 10 years, Bay Skate has been building a bridge between the local skateboarding, scootering, roller skating/blading and BMX community across New Zealand; offering a venue where roller sport enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels can meet-up, practice and showcase their talents. Our upcoming skateboard competition is expected to draw a substantial crowd, featuring participants from novice to professional levels, including both local and out of town riders. It is also a great stepping stone for those wanting to get into competitions to gain experience, further their career and eventually make it onto the world stage.
Currently the Bay Skate Shakedown is the only Street Competition that follows the same format as the Skateboarding NZ National Championships as well as World Skate and international events. Most street competitions across Aotearoa are done in a jam format but by choosing the same format as those high level events, we can give athletes a glimpse at what it’s like to compete at a National event, without the pressure. We believe it’s important to have these event pathways to help grow both grassroots and competition skateboarding across the motu.
*There is an entry fee for competitors. Spectators are free.
