Anthony Stretch is a rare voice, a truly original songwriter whose music blends folk, soul and rock’n’roll with cathartic abandon. Hailing from Hawke’s Bay, Stretch has carved out a place in Aotearoa for those who crave music with depth, heart, and authenticity.

To celebrate NZ Music Month at CAN, Stretch will be playing a selection of his own music plus some of the most timeless songs in the New Zealand songbook. Staged in the Main Gallery, Stretch will be playing amongst a never-before-seen exhibition of Hawke's Bay photographers work, capturing original local musicians and their audiences. This will be a perfect combination of live performance and an exhibition of striking imagery, capturing the creative act of music.
