SCENA is a thrilling presentation of operatic scenes performed by the talented young voices of Project Prima Volta (PPV).
Drawn from iconic works by composers such as Mozart, Verdi, and Puccini, these dramatic excerpts showcase the vocal power, emotional depth, and stage presence of some of Aotearoa’s most promising emerging singers.
Directed by John Wilkie and conducted by José Aparicio, each scene is carefully selected and staged to spotlight the development of PPV’s rangatahi performers, aged 14–25, who train year-round in vocal technique, musicianship, and performance.
SCENA offers audiences a rare chance to witness the energy and artistry of young performers stepping boldly into the world of opera. With piano accompaniment and minimal staging, the focus remains on the voices and storytelling, allowing the music to shine.
This is opera at its most intimate and immediate - raw, real, and resonant.
