Winter Craft Warmers
Crafts that foster creativity and connection
Saturday July 26th from 9am - 1pm
Choose from one of the following classes:
Wool Felting - with Sabine Laakman
Create your own wool figurines for the seasonal table or for puppet shows! Sabine Laakman will show you how to bring wool fleece to life using needle and foam.
A fun and rewarding class for beginners and advanced alike. (Cost for materials will be $20)
Flax Weaving - with Te Kaahurangi Maioha
TK will introduce you to tikanga/protocols of mahi raranga/flax weaving. You will create a woven taonga kete. (No extra cost for materials)
Pottery - with Britt Aberahama
Joi Britt for a relaxed and creative workshop where you’ll hand-build coffee cups or a vase using simple clay techniques – no experience needed. You’ll shape, design and choose your glaze colour, and your pieces will be returned to you once fired. All tools and aprons provided.(Cost for materials will be $25)
Gilded Letter - with Rebecca from Panoply Studios
Paint and embellish your own gilded letter in carnival style with signwriter, calligrapher and artist, Rebecca from Panoply Studio.
Students will leave with a completed letter in carnival style as pictured.
(Cost for materials will be $35 or $15 if you supply your own paints and brushes)
Design & Print a Te towel or Apron - with Printmaker Lisa Feyen from Ink Moth Print Studio
Join Lisa for a play with block printing on fabric, suitable for beginners and mixed abilities. Choose between a plain cotton apron or tea-towel and learn how to design and carve your block, ink it up and print on fabric to create unique contemporary repeat pattern designs. Fabric inks in a range of colours, tools, and some fabric for practice will be available. A block for carving and your choice of a plain cotton t-towel or apron is also supplied. After the course you will go home with your own designed and printed tea towel or apron, and a printing block to keep.(Cost for materials will be $15)
