Samantha Whitewood; An Exhibition of Recent Work

16 Byron Street, Napier

Samantha Whitewood is an artist inspired by life.

Her paintings reflect the thoughts and emotions that she has in her mind while constantly motivated by improving her technique and learning new skills. Her art practice uses any, and all materials that come to hand but this particular exhibition is focused on acrylics.

Beginning at an early age, Samantha loved “textures on her hands’ and grew up within a supportive family that were all creative in some form. Music is a huge part of her painting inspiration, and although being a private person she enjoys the challenge of ‘getting out of her comfort zone and showing some rawness’.

Samantha describes herself as a ‘self-taught one hit wonder’… meaning that as she slowly perfects her many styles, she would not be able to reproduce the same image twice.

Presently Samantha works from her Napier based studio. However she has future aspirations to travel the world, eventually settling in New York with a studio overlooking Central Park. All of this of course, while living life to the full and expressing her creativity.
