Tour de Chef | 25-28 May

~ at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers ~

Explore the beauty of Hawke’s Bay and the truly delectable food that awaits on a cycle gastronomy tour like no other.

Food, wine and healthy living unite in New Zealand at the inaugural Tour de Chef weekend May 25-27 at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, bringing together Michelin star chef Josh Emett (of Rata, Madam Woo and Claridges fame), Hawke’s Bay foodie and cheese expert extraordinaire Juliet Harbutt and Craggy Range Wines.

Spend Saturday cycling through magical Hawke’s Bay at a relaxed pace with Josh and Juliet as guides, discovering artisan food, award-winning wine, local producers and stunning landscapes.

With a variety of bikes, support vehicles and e-bikes available, this event can cater to riders of all levels of experience - from beginner to avid.

Josh and Juliet will open doors to delicatessens and food producers not readily accessible to the public as weekend attendees discover the best of local Hawkes’ Bay food and wine through the eyes and palates of the experts.

Josh Emett is rated among the leading chefs in the world, but the country boy from New Zealand has always been proud of his roots. His rise to chef stardom took him on a global journey and to the notorious kitchen of Gordon Ramsay, whom he worked for for ten years in London, New York, Los Angeles, and Melbourne, collecting several coveted Michelin stars along the way. Now settled back in New Zealand, Josh is a household name after appearing as a judge on Masterchef NZ. His restaurants are consistently named among NZ's bests.

Juliet Harbutt is a renowned cheese, food and wine connoisseur, having spoken at numerous universities and judged at competitions across the UK, USA, Switzerland and France. Her passion took her from a small deli in Wellington to London where she set up Jeroboam’s Wine and Cheese Shop, on onwards to markets, ripening cellars, chefs and cheesemakers around Europe, and to lesser known cheese areas of the world before returning to Hawke’s Bay.

The Saturday night dinner will be a special highlight – a five course tasting menu by Josh Emett, with matched wines by Craggy Range WInes, presented by Director of family-owned winery Mary Jeanne Peabody Hutchinson.

Craggy Range, situated in the shadow of Te Mata Peak in the premium wine growing area of Hawke’s Bay, was recently named #1 Winery in NZ in 2017 by Bob Campbell, MW in his annual Golden Grapes Award, recognising their outstanding contribution to the New Zealand wine industry and the people of New Zealand.

From the Tour de Chef cycle through Hawke’s Bay with Josh Emett, local food secrets shared by Juliet Harbutt, to the Josh Emett and Craggy Range Wines showcase dinner with Mary Jeanne Hutchinson – this is truly a special weekend of food, wine, learning and fun!
