Lighting of Osmanthus Garden

Cornwall Park, Tomoana Road, Hastings, Hastings District, Hawkes Bay

Don’t miss the upcoming Lighting of Osmanthus Gardens from 3rd to 7th April in Cornwall Park!

This year is the 10th year of lighting the garden, celebrating the sister city relationship between Guilin, China, and Hastings. The tranquility of the festival, the reflections of traditional Chinese silk lanterns in the waters, the lighting of trees, and the variation of the classical music accompaniment continue to be a Hastings icon.

For five evenings from April 3, visitors enter a magical wonderland of illuminated trees, sparkling grass, traditional Chinese silk lanterns and large lotus lanterns floating on the garden's lake.

On the evenings of Friday 5th and Saturday 6th, the gardens will be enhanced by performers who will entertain in traditional costumes.

The lanterns are lit up from dusk until 9:30pm each evening for the 5 days.
