From world-class food and wine to art exhibitions and festivals, there’s always something new in Hawke’s Bay waiting to be discovered. Here’s a taster of what is happening in Hawke’s Bay this week.
New release: Church Road Gwen Rosé
Church Road has released Gwen Rosé, which they say is a 'dry, elegant and refreshing wine with an attractive, pale salmon pink hue. A blend of Hawke's Bay Merlot and Tempranillo, it displays fresh acidity, lively strawberry and floral notes and a core of gentle flesh with an underlying subtle stone fruit richness. The perfect aperitif for sophisticated gatherings with friends, at home and when out for drinks, or paired with fresh, summery foods.' Head along to Church Road's cellar door to have taste of this incredible new addition.
Tēnei Tonu Exhibition
This stunning exhibition features a broad range of historic and contemporary taonga from the collection of the Hawke's Bay Museums Trust, Ruawharo Ta-u-rangi.
Translated as 'always here', Tēnei Tonu shares diverse stories of local Iwi Ngati Kahungunu and their enduring connection to the land.
Ten taonga riri (weapons) have recently come out of storage and are on now on display - some have not been exhibited for over 100 years'. They are representative of the nearly 200 taiaha and tewhatewha held in the collection, ranging from pre-contact through to the 1940s they show a variety of styles and materials.
