An Evening with Doug Avery - The Resilient Farmer

708 Puketapu Road, Puketapu, Napier

Join us for a delicious fundraising dinner and a yarn about overcoming life’s challenges. A night of great discovery from the man behind the top-selling book – The Resilient Farmer.

Recently awarded an MNZM Queen’s Birthday honour in recognition of his services to agriculture and mental health, charismatic Marlborough farmer Doug will share his powerful story of how he weathered years of drought and desperation to turn his farm — and his life — around. Speaking of openness, honesty and humour, Doug's journey is relatable to us all, but is of particular relevance to the farming community, who on a daily basis face unique challenges. He has tips for us all in dealing with what life throws at us.

Guaranteed to be an entertaining evening, the event will also include spot prizes and a Charity Auction raising funds for two local Hawkes Bay Charities - Look Good, Feel Better & Staros-Affected by Suicide Support Trust.

Just prior to Doug taking the stage, Di Foote from Look Good, Feel Better Hawkes Bay will introduce us to the work her organisation does in supporting women and men who are affected by cancer through offering a range of services and classes that literally help them to look good and feel better.

Warren Brown from Staros will also briefly share the work he and his team are doing in the community to support those families who have lost a family member to suicide.
