LUDLOW FARMSTAY, luxury Bed and Breakfast accommodation on a Hawkes Bay 555ha working Cropping and Arable farm, come and relax in our fully renovated Shearers Cottage. Enjoy the freshly grown produce such as peas and sweetcorn straight from the paddock (seasonal) and watch the harvesting of grain crops.(summer only) Farm tours available on request.
Originally this farmstay cottage was a 2 bedroom Whare with open veranda, and used to accommodate farm workers, pre 1940's. In 1958 a second building which was a horse track room was moved to join the original building, and was then used as Shearers Quarters, as it stands today, with 3 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen/dining/lounge area.
In October 2002 we decided to renovate. We found Matai and Rimu floors, windows and doors. With the building now totally renovated we have Ludlow Farmstay.
The Farm
Ludlow is a working farm of 555ha situated a 25 minute drive south of Hastings on SH2. Drumpeel Road lies 2 kms north of Otane Township turnoff. Ludlow Farm is extensive cropping, with lamb and beef finishing. Crops include wheat, barley, peas, squash pumpkins, sweetcorn, and grass seed. Come and enjoy our farm in sunny Hawkes Bay, relax in the recently renovated Shearers Cottage in luxury accommodation and savor the tranquility of the Drumpeel Valley farmland, or visit local attractions throughout Hawkes Bay wineries and Restaurants are all easy access, or enjoy a home cooked dinner with your hosts, we are always keen for a hit of tennis before dinner.
