Hawke's Bay sponsor NZ Black Sticks Hockey Teams
In a bold national first Hawke's Bay have become the very first regional sponsor of a New Zealand sports team.
The New Zealand Mens and Womens Black Sticks Hockey teams will carry the Hawke's Bay Brand.
The brand that will appear on the shirts of our national teams is a black and white version of the new “Hawke’s Bay” logo that has already started to appear in tourism promotion for the region. The brand-developed in conjunction with local marketing expert Kim Thorp, has already been adopted by local organisations such as Business Hawke’s Bay and Food Hawke’s Bay.
This truly unique sponsorship agreement was the brainchild of Vector Arena co-owner and the man behind the phenomenally successful 'Walking with the Dinosaurs', Bruce Mactaggart. A hockey fan, he was looking for a way to get the Black Sticks the financial support they needed, while at the same time, galvanising a community and all its resources behind them.
Over 23 local businesses made a financial contribution to initiate this sponsorship.
The Black Sticks will attend training camps in Hawke's Bay and also visit schools, businesses and community organisations in the region.
