2012 Art Deco Weekend a huge success

The Art Deco Trust is extremely happy with the outcome of the 2012 GEON Art Deco Weekend.

With over 200 events held across Hawke’s Bay including outdoor concerts, vintage car parades, fashions shows, steam train rides, the Gatsby picnic and so much more.

Organisers reported an all time high in numbers attending the Vintage Car Parade on Saturday with 250 cars taking part in the parade and the entire Emerson Street in Napier’s City Centre lined with thousands wanting to catch a glimpse of the vehicles on show. Estimated numbers for this event were at the upper end of 25,000.

The Gatsby Picnic on the Sunday also showed record numbers with all lawn areas on the Marine Parade taken up by Art Deco themed gazebos. Reports had attendance figures up at 30,000 for the day in Napier.

The event is an undoubted highlight of Napier’s calendar and organised by the Art Deco Trust, it is a not too serious celebration of Art Deco style
