Central Hawke's Bay Rotary River Pathway

Central Hawke's Bay has a great cycling track that runs between the towns of Waipukurau and Waipawa.

This track begins at Russell Park in Waipukurau, follows the Tukituki River and crosses at Tapairu Road. It then follows Tapairu Road north to the Waipawa River.

The beginning of this track is limestone, with a mountain bike trail running adjacent to it, until Tapairu Road where it runs on the road until its end at the Waipawa River.

The Northern trail is 12km's and at the junction of Tapairu Road, the large flat river bank ares is a perfect spot for picnics or a swim in summer.  From here riders can turn back to Russell Park or extend their ride down Tapairu Road leading into the town of Waipawa where it's easy to find a fantastic coffee and a bite to eat.

The second, shorter ride also begins at Russell Parl. The flat 2.5km stopbank track is excellent for younger family members to scooter or trike alongside other cyclists. The trail turn around brings riders back to Russell Park where there is a new playground area, and it's only a five minute walk or a two minute ride, into Waipukurau's main street.

Both trails are mostly flat, and the rural ride is naturally bordered by private farms and the river bank.
