In winter, cyclo-cross is popular, catering for all ages from 8 -99 years old. You won't need any special equipment, just a bike and a helmet. Find out more at www.cxhawkesbay.com.
Likewise, the Hawke’s Bay Mountain Bike Club offers a range of off-road events (see http://www.hawkesbaymtb.co.nz/events/ for more information).
For families and those looking for a less competitive option, the major event of the year is The Big Easy.
