For a slice summer paradise just off the beaten track - fifteen minutes out of Waipukurau - Backpaddock Lakes wakeboard and water ski park is a must do this Summer.
Backpaddock Lakes is an incredible water sports park with three lakes, designed with wakeboarding, water-skiing and barefooting specifically in mind. Plus it’s the only place in New Zealand to offer both boat riding and cable park riding in the same place.
From the most experienced adrenaline seekers, to those keen to just give it a go, or simply soak up some sunshine and watch the action on the water, Backpaddock Lakes caters for everyone.
The main lake has a world class slalom course, kickers, rails and sliders, a barefoot ski jump, as well as a sheltered marina and a concrete boat ramp. There’s a BBQ area, a children’s playground, toilets and a club house for members.
And for the first time visitors this summer will also be able to try out the brand new Cable Ski Park. Open Labour Weekend through Easter anyone can give this uniquely designed experience a run or two.
You’ll also find a dedicated 2 hectare wetland area with seven islands made up of channels and open water, separated by native plantings and wildlife. Amongst the wildlife that inhabit the wetland, you’ll often find White Heron (Kotuku) who are undisturbed by activities on the lake.
Backpaddock Lakes host events and competitions throughout the summer – keep an eye on their website www.backpaddocklakes.co.nz, which also offer a local up to date forecast
