Hawke's Bay Regional Council has a long term focus and we exist because of our statutory role in four core functions:
Natural resource knowledge and management
Natural hazard assessment and management
Regional strategic planning
Regional scale infrastructure and services

The Regional Council meets monthly and develops or approves all major policies and deals with all other issues concerning those responsibilities which have not been delegated to Council Committees or the Chief Executive.

Chairman: Fenton Wilson
Deputy Chairman: Ewan McGregor
The Chairman of the Māori Committee attends all HBRC meetings and has speaking rights only.
