Directors Workshop With David Coddington
Hawke’s Bay thespians have the fabulous opportunity to attend a Directors Workshop with David Coddington on 11th and 12th November at The Studio, 6A Hastings Street, Napier.
David is originally from Hawke’s Bay and taught at Central Hawke’s Bay College and Te Aute College. He was involved in directing and acting in a wide variety of productions for both school and community theatre before being invited to take up a position as a professional director at Auckland’s Mercury Theatre.
David left the Mercury Theatre to pursue a freelance career as a drama/acting tutor and director of a number of productions. In 1991 he was one of three founding Directors of The South Seas Film & TV School and developed their On Screen Acting course in 2001.
David continued as a freelance director founding The Real Theatre Company for which he has directed a number of professional productions in all of Auckland’s major theatres.
In 2009 David developed and was the Director of the Manukau Institute of Technology, Bachelor of Performing Arts Course. He continued as Director until his retirement in 2014.
The Directors Course will cover choosing a play, the rehearsal process, performance, lighting.
