Details:
The beautiful Keirunga Gardens is the setting for the cultural hub of Hawkes Bay, providing a home for the learning and practice of many arts, crafts and leisure pursuits. The Keirunga Arts and Crafts Society, is opening its homestead and studios to visitors on Sunday, the 28th February from 11-3pm. This will be an ongoing event, happening on the last Sunday of the month, year round. It was a specific request in the will of George Nelson, that his homestead and grounds in Pufflett Road become a centre for culture and relaxation for the people of Havelock North, when he gifted the property to the then Havelock North Borough Council. Since 1965, Keirunga has been an integral part of the social and cultural development of the village. Perhaps because it is tucked away among the trees in park-like grounds away from the village centre, this exceptional community asset is not as widely known as it should be, and it is for this reason that the members of Keirunga are opening all the buildings to visitors each month.
