There is no shortage of sport in Hawkes Bay for people of all levels.
From cycling to horse riding, soccer to sailing, tennis to touch, or rugby to rowing, Hawkes Bay has something for any sportsman, sportswoman or family.
Hawkes Bay boasts many top facilities for large sporting events such as the Pettigrew Green Arena in Taradale and McLean Park in Napier. There is also a wide variety of recreation parks such as Anderson Park, the Park Island Recreation Reserve and the Regional Sports Park, which is currently under construction.
There are over 20 golf courses in the region catering to all levels of player.
There is a massive cycling culture in Hawkes Bay across recreation and competitive cycling as well as mountain biking. Hawkes Bay is home to New Zealand’s second largest Road Cycling club (Ramblers) and New Zealand’s largest Mountain Biking club. Check out the Eskdale Mountain Bike Park which is one of the largest and most highly regarded parks in the country.
Equestrian events make up a large part of the sport culture in the region. As well as a regional Hunt club, the annual Horse of the Year show which is the largest equestrian event in Australasia is held in Hawkes Bay every March. A great days racing can be had at Hastings racecourse.

For those who are more partial to engines, you can check out Stock Car racing at Meeanee Speedway Go Kart racing with the Hawkes Bay Kart Club, or Moto-Cross with the Hawkes Bay Motorcycle Club.
If you fancy taking in a game of rugby check out the Hawkes Bay Magpies in action at McLean Park, Napier. Just be sure to wear black and white-and chant C’mon the Bay!
