The Amazing Maze n Maize & Corncob Crazy Golf are now open for a new and exciting season. The new Maze theme to confuse you over the summer has been revealed as Transportation.
The maze is a paddock of maize (animal feed corn), 7 hectares in size, with approximately 8km of paths cut into it to form a pictorial maze. But don't get too concerned, if you're good at puzzles and don't take a wrong turn you'll walk around 1km. Being a crop, the season is limited (26th December-25th April) so each year we start afresh with a new theme and a new pattern of paths. The paths are flat and are suitable for push chairs and wheel chairs.
The Maze takes on average 45 minutes to complete and is suitable for all ages. Along the way there are various points of interest including over 100 kernels of knowledge which are trivia, information or jokes based around the maze theme. Visitors are able to take quiz sheets into the maze and schools and groups often have competitions to complete them correctly.
Corncob Crazy Golf
Corncob Crazy Golf is a world first mini golf variant where the biggest twist is using a corncob as the putter. To complicate the game a little more the ball is soft and buoncy and about the same size as a tennis ball.

Picnic, Play Area & BBQs
The picnic area at the entrance to the maze & golf is complete with farmyard games and activities for family entertainment and team building fun. These include such things as walking planks, stilts, tug-o-war rope; wobble boards, sacks for races, a mist tunnel for cooling down and a brain teaser mini maze.
A 3D experience with a very exciting Vortex tunnel is an added attraction along with the PuddlePad, a water play area for kids to cool off on a hot Hawkes Bay day.
There are BBQs (book in advance) and picnic tables available for your use and freshly brewed coffee.
Ask about group bookings, team challenges and special events. It’s a great venue for corporate team building activities. Use our ideas or your own.
After Dark Activities
Explore the maze by Moonlight (BYO torch). This is a pleasant stroll through the maze after dark. No spookies! Bookings are essential for this experience. Note that prices are the same as the Amazing Day Maze.
On Friday nights the peace and tranquillity is shattered when the Maze fills with mutants and mayhem to become the CornEvil Haunted Maze show (R16). Interactive theatre at its best! Come and be scared to bits - but remember to bring a torch and plenty of courage! CornEvil shows are on every Friday night until daylight savings ends.
During the school holidays we stage the School of Scares haunted shows especially for families and kids aged from 10-15 years. Shows begin just before dark for younger children and 'ramp up' to being very scary for teenagers after dark. Dates are Wednesdays 20th & 27th January then 7th & 14th April 2010.
Scarecrow Day - Sunday 7 March 2010
Scarecrow Day is a great family fun day out with plenty of old fashioned games & activities. Scarecrows are lovingly constructed by family, business and community groups, displayed on the day and judged. They are then auctioned to the highest bidder with all proceeds going to the Hawke's Bay Riding for the Disabled groups. The day has the feel of a country fair with great Hawke's Bay food, coffee and wine available.
Biggest, Trickiest Easter Egg Hunt in The Bay - Easter 2010
During Easter each year, Cornelius the scarecrow helps the Easter Bunny out by hiding Easter eggs throughout the Maze. Although we're open from 10am until 5pm, hundreds of Easter eggs are given away between 11am and 2pm each day.
