Legal Restrictions

The RWC 2011 has been declared a Major Event under NZ’s Major Event Management Act: www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/2007/0291/latest/viewpdf.aspx. This means that there are legislative restrictions around what words and logos external organisations can use in connection with the event. These restrictions are listed here:

 www.legislation.govt.nz/regulation/public/2008/0250/latest/whole.html

This presentation from IMG includes more details specific to the structure and legal restrictions during Rugby World Cup 2011

There are also restrictions on what hospitality and travel can be arranged in connection with RWC 2011. This is because travel agents and hospitality providers are officially appointed by the IRB via Rugby Travel and Hospitality Ltd. We are waiting on details regarding these restrictions and will list them on this site when available.
