Hawkes Bay has a wide variety of good quality schools, with a combination of state -funded public schools and boarding options available. There are more than 120 schools throughout the region. There are a number of highly regarded private schools.
Hereworth Preparatory School in Havelock North is a private school for boys aged 5-12.
There are also a number of integrated, single sex schools offering boarding options such as Iona College and Woodford House in Havelock North and Lindisfarne College in Hastings.
The Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT) in Taradale is the largest provider of tertiary education for the East Coast of the North Island. EIT offers an extensive range of courses at postgraduate, degree, diploma, and certificate level. It to meet the demands of the region’s key industry groups as well as the wider employment market.
EIT has centres of excellence in Viticulture, Wine and Food Science and Therapeutic Recreation while it also offers short business courses at centres in Hastings and Waipukurau. A feature of the Taradale campus is the Pettigrew Green Arena a major indoor sports complex that hosts local and national sports and entertainment events and acts. The venue has seating for 2,500 and is also perfect for large-scale conferences.
Hawkes Bay has a number of other tertiary providers offering training on everything from teaching to massage and naturopathy.
